| Published: Jul 10, 2013 03:00 am This article is over 11 years old and may contain outdated information Better than any official Sonic soundtrack? The other day, I shared with you all a new Sonic the Hedgehog fan game, Sonic After the Sequel. In particular, I made note of the game’s unbelievably amazing OST. We’re talking professional grade material here, equaling and possibly surpassing any official Sonic soundtrack. It’s that good. Though I provided a link to the full soundtrack and shared a small handful of tracks from YouTube, I wanted to give you guys a little more. It’s a good thing that Falk Au Yeong, one of the game’s seven composers, hit me up with a link to a YouTube “Sound Test” of sorts. That should allow you to quickly sample the audio as well as jump right into the full playlist for the extended tracks. And if you want to download the album in mp3 format, hit up either this link or this one. Oh! And the OST for the game preceding this one, Sonic Before the Sequel, is pretty kickass too. I’ve embedded a YouTube sampler below along with links to the playlist and mp3 download. In true classic Sonic fashion, the blue hedgehog is a silent protagonist throughout Chrono Adventure, with all player dialogue handled by a new character named Rodolia the ladybug; she acts as the mute Sonic’s voice, making her presence known as a flickering sprite in his quills.Characters[]Gerem: A green hedgehog from the past that got kicked out of the Sky Empire by a fake Dr. Ucano.Rodolia: A tiny bug that will guide Sonic on his time traveling journey.Doctor Ucano: Mad scientist, and ruler of the Sky Empire. He rules with an iron fist, and relentlessly crushes anyone who goes against him using his machines. Though, something seems off about this.. Better take a look for yourself.Gameplay[]The gameplay is very different in this game. Taking it's concept from Sonic Before the Sequel Aftermath, Chrono Adventure sees Sonic with different upgrades. These are as follows: Classic: The classic controls just the same as BTS/ATS, just the Spindash and Super Peel-Out. You can also collect six Chaos Emeralds(As powerups, and it is six because one of them is a large powerup that stands for two powerups.) in different locations in the present to unlock Super Sonic.Sword: Possibly inspired by Sonic and the Black Knight. Has a slower runspeed, but can take out barriers.Jet boots: Slowest speed in the game, but will make Sonic jump high and let him speed off in the air.Bumper gloves: These will let Sonic perform punches and a double jump and will destroy bumpers.Boost shoes: Just the modern boost seen in Sonic Unleashed, Colo(u)rs and Generations.Rings can be collected, but you can only hold 30 at a time. Also scattered throughout the world are Silver Rings, which act as currency. You can use them at a shop to buy shields or 10 rings. The shields are the same as After the Sequel, so you can look at them here.Soundtrack[]Not much can be said for the soundtrack, as the songs in this fangame are reused songs from BTS and ATS, as well as songs/remixes from other games, like Sonic Unleashed, Kirby's Dreamland, Chrono Trigger and Metal Gear Rising. Sonic Chrono Adventure is the fourth fangame released by LakeFeperd to be found, items to be purchased and story to be followed.Story[]Spoiler warning: Plot, ending details or any kind of information follow.Taking place after the events of Sonic After the Sequel and Sonic 3 & Knuckles, Sonic Chrono Adventure sees the Blue Blur spend his well-earned downtime in an expansive region known as the South Lakes. Up in the heavens hangs the ruins of the Sky Empire; a once thriving civilization that fell into ruins one hundred years ago after a mysterious accident destroying its floating island city. Sonic’s vacation quickly goes awry with him being relentlessly hunted down by a battered EGGATS-2013, the owl-like robot fought as the final boss in After the Sequel. Now that the feathery robotic fiend has escaped the Special Zone and developed time-travelling capabilities as a result, EGGATS promptly thrusts Sonic a century into the past; rebels are fighting against the dictatorial rule of Doctor Ucano, the Sky Empire’s Director of Sciences who rose into power within a year before the events of the game. Sonic is forced to watch history unfold as the same incident that saw the end of the Sky Empire draws near under Ucano’s reign, and with Doctor Eggman attempting to assert his rule over the present-day South Lakes as well, it’s a race against time itself to save both past and present from destruction! The plot of the game will have Sonic travel back and forth through time, as the title would suggest. These will be forced onto the player at first when EGGATS catches up to Sonic early on in the story, but upon acquiring one of its feathers after two round trips through space-time, you can use portals scattered around the world map to time-travel at any given point. The story is mainly presented through scripted sequences and expositional conversations with NPCs on the world map, rather than cutscenes like those in BTS and ATS. That is not to say that there isn’t any cutscenes period, as they are used sparingly and saved for important story events late. Sonic before the sequel download rom. Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Release Date The Sequel Was Confirmed In 2024 Custom image by Simone Ashmoore Just days before the release of Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Paramount made their franchise plans clear when they green-lit another movie. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is not only confirmed, but it has already been given a release date of March 19, 2027. This news not only suggests that the movie was already being developed before the announcement, but that Paramount likely has a larger masterplan in mind that involves more Sonic the Hedgehog content. With a production timeline almost identical to the previous sequels, there's no reason to think that Sonic 4 won't arrive on time. Sonic The Hedgehog 4 Cast Details Will Sonic, Tails, Knuckles & Shadow Return? With each new installment in the Sonic the Hedgehog movie franchise, the cast of lovable characters has expanded to include more and more fan-favorites from the games. This trend is expected to continue going into Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and Sonic 3's ending even introduced a few newcomers that are certain to return. Other returns include those of Ben Schwartz as Sonic, Colleen O'Shaughnessey as Tails, and Idris Elba as Knuckles, and the core trio grew even stronger after the events of the third movie. Related Who Is Amy Rose? Sonic The Hedgehog Ally, Video Game History & Movie Future Explained Amy Rose is a major character from the video games who makes a surprise appearance in the post-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 3 to save Sonic. The post-credits scene in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 revealed that Shadow survived the Eclipse Cannon, meaning Keanu Reeves could be back. It's uncertain if Jim Carrey will return Perfect entry for new and old fans alike. 3 Sonic CD Starts With A Boom This 2D entry was released on the Sega CD in 1993, introducing past and future variants of the game's several worlds. The Blue Blur must travel through time and collect the stones in order to thwart Dr. Robotnik's ambitions with the Little Planet. Sonic CD is also famous for introducing Metal Sonic, whom players must race in a memorable section at Stardust Speedway. Detractors complained about the level design, which featured various obstacles to prevent players from going back in time. Regardless, Sonic CD stands among the hedgehog's best outings with its upbeat music, fun boss fights, and ingenious time-travel mechanic. 2 Sonic The Hedgehog 2 Added Major Pieces To The Sonic Lore Sonic the Hedgehog 2 was the perfect follow-up to the first Sonic game in every way. With improved level design and a new spindash mechanic, the sequel allows the player to move much faster and makes them truly feel like the fastest thing alive. Two additions would change the course of the franchise forever. Sonic 2 saw the debut of Sonic's trusty sidekick, Miles "Tails" Prower. It also marked the introduction of Sonic's super form, achieved by collecting all 7 Chaos Emeralds. Both have become major staples in the franchise, making Sonic the Hedgehog 2 one of the most influential Sonic games ever. 1 Sonic The Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles Is The Ultimate Sonic Experience Sonic the Hedgehog 3 was released on the Sega Genesis in 1994 and built upon the formula established with the first two entries. In this sequel, players could explore brand-new levels with Sonic and reach further heights with Tails' new flying abilities. Element that aged gracefully was Masato Nakamura's iconic score with Green Hill Zone, one of the finest intro levels in gaming. 11 Sonic Rush Adventure Incorporated Some Nautical Nonsense Sonic Rush Adventure attempted to bring some new twists to the 2D Sonic game formula with a larger emphasis on collecting and mini-games. Players were tasked with acquiring several parts of Sonic's new watercraft in order to traverse through the high seas and reach the game's numerous islands. Unfortunately, this and an intrusive story served to put the brakes on the series' trademark high-speed gameplay. Regardless, the game retains enough of its predecessor's enjoyable platforming. Although Hideki Kamiya's absence is lamentable, the team filling in manage to emulate his trademark style with several nautical tunes that incorporate a healthy amount of sampling. 10 Sonic Pocket Adventure Is An Obscure Handheld Gem Before this Neo Geo Pocket title, fans who wanted to take the hog on the go had to make do with heavily compromised versions on the Game Gear. Sonic Pocket Adventure featured the best elements of the hog's Genesis entries and managed to squeeze them into a mere Neo Geo Pocket Color. Sonic Pocket Adventure marked the first collaboration between Sonic Team and a division within SNK that would later form the studio Dimps. It included heavily reworked levels from Sonic 2 while incorporating 8-bit renditions of Sonic 3's soundtrack. Although the game was highly acclaimed, its platform made it an obscure entry. 9 Sonic Advance 2 Built Upon The Prior Entry's Strengths The Sonic Team's third team-up with Dimps improved upon the first Advance title in every way. While the prior portable entry was a little lacking in the speed department, the sequel injected a little blast processing to make it more in line with the hog's Genesis outingsSonic Mania - Before The Sequel Sonic
Were influenced by San Francisco and other locations in the United States, such as Yosemite National Park (where they vacationed during its development), the Golden Gate Bridge, and the San Francisco Bay Area.[21]Characters[]During the development of Sonic Adventure, the team wanted to introduce a new rival for Sonic in a potential sequel, but rarely discussed the idea. The developers eventually found use in this new character when they laid out the "good vs. evil" storyline.[25] The character was co-created by Iizuka and the writer of the story in Sonic Adventure 2, Shiro Maekawa.[26] The rival character's name was originally "Terios" ("reflection of"), a reference to being Sonic's doppelganger,[27] before being changed to Shadow the Hedgehog.Maekawa was tasked with developing Shadow, whom they wanted to look just as "cool" as Sonic. Maekawa settled on the design of a black hedgehog, but struggled coming up with his personality. One night, while he was brainstorming lines for a scene in which Sonic confronts Shadow for impersonating him, Maekawa came up with Shadow's first line: "Hmph, aren't you the fake one here?" To further shape his "subtle" character, Maekawa envisioned Shadow would refer to himself with the more humble Japanese pronoun boku (僕?).[26]Another character, Rouge the Bat, was created to contrast Knuckles. Funnily enough, her original name was "Shadow", before being changed to the current one.[28]Promotion[] Promotional artwork of Shadow and the early logo of the game. Sega announced a follow-up to Sonic Adventure and a spin-off, which would become Sonic Shuffle, on 4 October 1999.[29] The newly named Sonic Adventure 2 appeared for the first time at E3 on 11 May 2000,[30] with Sonic Team adding the video shown to its website on June 30.[31] Sonic Team posted a trailer and a number of screenshots on 30 May 2001,[32] with Sega promoting Sonic Adventure 2 as the last Sonic game for the Dreamcast and as a celebration of the series' tenth anniversary.[33] Sega held a tenth anniversary party for Sonic in June 2001, at which attendees could compete in a battle tournament, and the winner played against Takashi Iizuka himself.[24]Sonic Adventure 2 was released worldwide on 23 June 2001,[34] marking the Sonic series' tenth anniversary. A special collector's edition of the game was produced, featuring a large blue case that contained the game, a music CD (featuring tracks spanning Sonic's ten year history), a Sonic the Hedgehog retrospective booklet and a commemorative coin.Pre-release[].
