DescriptionUp until earlier this year, when twitch clip links were sent on Discord, every link had the video player embedded to play within Discord itself. However, earlier this year, I began noticing most twitch clip links now do not embed the video player within Discord. Instead, it now takes you to the external (twitch) webpage to view it.On rare occasions, the twitch clip link will embed the video within Discord. I can't find any reproducable pattern to make it work. It just sometimes work, sometimes doesn't but more often it doesn't. The same clip link can also sometimes produce the embed video player and most times not.Checking the Discord embed debugger for the links, it gives the warning "Unable to extract video: Internal error". On the rare occasion where it does work, there is no warning.Steps to ReproduceAny Twitch clip link can be used to reproduce the issue. Here are a few random example links for testing: any of the above links into a Discord text channel and send. They should embed the video player within Discord.Discord Embed Debugger: BehaviorIn the Discord text channel, the link should embed with the video player to be able to play the video within DiscordCurrent BehaviorMore than 50% of the time, the video player does not get embedded and only shows as linkScreenshots/VideosWorking example (rare occurrence):Discord text channelDiscord Embed Debugger
video

ohbunnies - nickyem
Watch ohbunnies's clip titled "nickyem"
Twitch"

} } ]}Broken example:Discord text channelDiscord Embed Debugger
link

Emiru - Jason Emiru cosplay?!?
Watch Emiru's clip titled "Jason Emiru cosplay?!?"
Twitch"

} ]}Client and System InformationCurrently on: stable 337154 (65fd300) Host 0.0.322 arm64 Build Override: N/A macOS 14 (23.3.0)However, same issue no matter what device I send the Twitch clip links on.

You've likely seen embeds before. They're a great way to display information to a user in a clean way.In this section we will cover how to create and customize embeds.PreviewHere is an example of what embeds can look like.Building the EmbedDiscord4J uses Immutable Specs to build objects, for to build embeds we use EmbedCreatSpec.builder().EmbedCreateSpec embed = EmbedCreateSpec.builder() .color(Color.BLUE) .title("Title") .url(" .author("Some Name", " " .description("a description") .thumbnail(" .addField("field title", "value", false) .addField("", "", false) .addField("inline field", "value", true) .addField("inline field", "value", true) .addField("inline field", "value", true) .image(" .timestamp(Instant.now()) .footer("footer", " .build();client.getChannelById(Snowflake.of(CHANNEL_ID)) .ofType(GuildMessageChannel.class) .flatMap(channel -> channel.createMessage(embed)) .subscribe();Embeds can also be sent when the message contains content:client.getChannelById(channelId) .ofType(GuildMessageChannel.class) .flatMap(channel -> channel.createMessage(MessageCreateSpec.builder() .content("A meaningful quote from a good movie") .addEmbed(embed) .build() )).subscribe();tipAll embed properties are optional. If you want a simpler embed, you can leave out what you don't want.Embed ColorsDiscord4J uses a custom Color class when a color param is needed. But, you may want more color choices than the default enum provides.Color rgbColor = Color.of(rr, gg, bb);Color hexColor = Color.of(0xAABBCC);Blank FieldsDiscord enforces that embed fields and their values contain characters. However, you can "bypass" this restriction by using a zero-width space. To use a ZWS, just use "" as shown in the example above.Attaching ImagesLike other messages, images can be directly attached to the message and the embed can use the image from the attachment.Using attachment://filename.extension as the image URL, an embed can reference the image attached.tipIf you plan on attaching the same image many times, consider hosting it online and providing the URL to it.This helps reduce your bandwidth and increase bot response time as you no longer need to upload the image every time its embedded.EmbedCreateSpec embed = EmbedCreateSpec.builder() ... .image("attachment://file-name.png") .build();client.getChannelById(channelId) .ofType(GuildMessageChannel.class) .flatMap(channel -> channel.createMessage(MessageCreateSpec.builder() .content("content? content") .addFile("file-name.png", fileAsInputStream) .addEmbed(embed) .build() )).subscribe();Quirks and FeaturesIf you want 2 or more fields side-by-side, they must have inline: trueThe timestamp in the footer, like other timestamps across the client, adjusts to the user's localeMentions will only render correctly in the description and field values.Mentions in embeds will not ping usersEmbeds allow markdown. Uptime Kuma X DiscordYou might have wondered if there's a tool to set your service statuses in Discord, whether it's your Minecraft server or your website. There are players who are curious to see the status but are too lazy to open the URL.You've found the tool! 😄As you can see in the screenshot below, the bot is able to send a message on a certain interval and edit it. With the help of a couple of emojis, it is clear for your audience if something is happening with the services.Installation and Configuration:Install Uptime Kuma and configure it: Uptime KumaCreate an webserver capable of running PHP.Follow these back-end instructionsInstall Node JSCreate a Discord botFollow these bot instructionsFuture Plans:We plan to implement Uptime Kuma Incidents report in a Discord Embed.
